The Winky Lights Project was a series of boards using differentially coupled
LEDs to maximize the number of LEDs per I/O lines.
The idea was to provide inexpensive LED winky light driver boards for toys and
other consumer products.
This model used 5 I/O lines to drive 20 LEDs. It is also programmable. Shorting an I/O pin to ground during power up will select one of 5 other sequences instead of the default random pattern.
Additionally, closing the contacts during power up will increase the delay between pattern repeats.
